Colonel Allensworth State Park
On Saturday we made the short trip down Hwy 43 to Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park.
We've visited this historic site on many occasions. For Saturdays trip we had perfect weather with some light cloud cover which made a nice long walk and for some fun photos.
Allensworth was a town created by Colonel Allensworth in the early 1900's, it was developed for African American's. A schoolhouse, a Baptist church, businesses, homes, a hotel, a library, and various other structures symbolize the rebirth of one man’s dream of an independent, democratic town where African Americans could live in control of their own destiny.
